Best places to check out around Canggu

Sarah Lempa

Canggu is popular among expats, surfers, digital nomads, yogis, and beach-seeking vacationers. It's a super fun area of Bali where foreigners and locals alike enjoy the vibrant energy — and you'll probably end up staying longer than you expected. Hell, I was supposed to come here for one month and it has been ten. These are a few places you should definitely check out if you're in town!

AMO SPA, Warung Local - Indonesian Food, Deus Ex Machina - Temple of Enthusiasm, La Brisa Bali, COMO Beach Club Bali, Tanah Lot

Now, before I talk about AMO, I will say there are far cheaper spas you can go to where the massages will be just as good. What sets AMO apart from the rest is their sauna experience, with cold plunge pools and a hot tub that overlooks the greenery behind the spa. Also, it's a good place to meet new people.

If you're looking for great local Indonesian food, this is a fabulous place to start. Here you can get a heaping plate of delicious rice, noodles, veggies, fish or meat for a couple dollars — and it is DELICIOUS. There are tons of local warungs (traditional restaurants) around town though so keep your eyes open and try 'em all.

Lately, my friends and I have been going to stand up comedy night at Deus. They have plenty of events of varying subjects and a cool shop with apparel and motorcycles to boot — the best of all worlds, IMO!

  • La Brisa Bali, Indonesia

La Brisa's decor is straight up dreamy, and the whole place feels like one giant tropical fairytale maze. Sitting right on the beach, this massive beach club has a delicious menu and drink list to boot. Definitely recommend heading there for sunset!

  • COMO Beach Club Bali, Indonesia

Como Beach Club has a gorgeous, bright aqua pool that's only steps away from the black sand beach. You can hear the waves as you take a swim and choose one of their many cocktails or small plates for a snack — it's a decadent experience. I love chilling there during the day.
