Best Beignets in New Orleans
L S
New Orleans is one of the hottest spots for tourists, musicians and street performers in the south. It's known for its lively atmosphere, exquisite food and southern charm. I would suggest more than a day trip to see all the great things that Nola has to offer, but I have to insist that you start off—and possibly end— the trip with an authentic Big Easy Beignet. This local Cajun promises you won't regret it!

Well known to the locals, this adorable little cottage got its start as a Grocer in the 1800's. Everyone raves about their Blue Crab Beignet being the best when it comes to dressing up a traditional southern pastry. This local destination is owned by an Award-winning Chef and the food speaks for itself. We suggest going during lunchtime to avoid the dinner rush or making a reservation to guarantee your spot at one of Nola's best tables!

Katie's in New Orleans, United States

Very well-known among the locals and tourists alike. Katie's is praised for their famous Crawfish Beignet appetizer. Easy to reach and located just one block off of the Canal St. Streetcar line this is a local favorite restaurant and bar. They open right before lunch and close at 9 with shorter hours on Sundays. If your party is bigger than 8 people it is suggested that you call ahead and set a reservation to make sure you don't miss out on this amazing local gem.

LUCA Eats in New Orleans, United States

LUCA Eats is popular among tourists, and is best known for their award-winning Oreo Beignet. They offer a small (but great) menu at fair prices and are pet friendly. The atmosphere is family-friendly and a great place to go if you are traveling with kids and want to stop for a bite. LUCA also offers online ordering for those on the go. A must-try place for those that want to try a beignet with a twist.

Café Fleur De Lis in New Orleans, United States

This charming cafe is right in the middle of the French quarter and is highly recommended by the locals as a must-see for tourists. The upper balcony seating offers an amazing overview of the lively scene below and the Beignets are said to be some of the best. Make sure that you plan to stop by earlier in the day, the cafe opens at 7 a.m. and closes between 2 and 3 daily so if you feel this is a must-see, we suggest getting there early to beat the lunch crowd.

Loretta's Authentic Pralines - French Market in New Orleans, United States

Mrs. Loretta has been in business for almost 40 years and knows her way around a beignet. This is an authentic locally known part of Nola history and is a must among the locals. There are two locations that are open from Wednesday thru Sunday and my personal favorite is the one in the French Market. My suggestion is to get the Burger Beignet and have no regrets...it's AMAZING!

One of the most charming cafes around, very popular among the younger crowd and is one of the best places to get a jazzed-up beignet. They don't just offer your normal variety and have an array of options to choose from! I have heard nothing but good things about this local jewel and plan on visiting this sweet spot super soon!

Cafe Beignet in New Orleans, United States

Cafe' Beignet is very popular among the locals and has four locations, my favorite being the Royal St. location which is a great place to get one of the best beignets and watch street performers. With a warm inviting environment this is a good place to grab lunch and their whole menu is amazing just don't forget the State's Official Doughnut on your way out.

Cafe Du Monde French Market in New Orleans, United States

This is the best-known location for Beignets among both locals and tourist. It is one of my favorite places personally due to its open-air concept and amazing beignets and chicory coffee. I have been back numerous times over the years, and it is always the same as I left it! There is no need to fix perfection. Don't forget to grab some of its beignet mix for sale so you can take a taste of Nola home. Feel free to stop by anytime, they are open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day!

Part of the Brennan Family dynasty, SoBou is a well-known place among tourists and is usually a destination on the list before you arrive in town. They take the traditional puffy pastry of the city and infuse it with combinations that keep everyone coming back. When it comes to the Duck and Sweet Potato Beignets that is just the tip of their culinary abilities. Reservations are available online and are highly recommended.
