My Travel Life Told in Places
Jean Tiston
When I was younger, me and my family would always go to the beach during the summer. We would travel out of the country once in a while. But I think my thirst for travel and adventure really started when I got out of college. By then I have the time and the means to go out and explore. Sometimes with friends, sometimes on my own. Here are some places that tell my travel story through the awesome prompts provided by Seeker
Siquijor, Tawi-Tawi, Taoyuan International Airport, Binurong View Point, Kuromon Market, Alona Beach, Apo Reef Natural Park, Boracay PubCrawl, Kura Sushi, Jomalig Island, Kibungan, Cebu City, El Nido
Siquijor, Philippines
Tawi-Tawi, Philippines

This is probably the next place on my bucket list. It is the southernmost part of the Philippines. It is nearer to Malaysia than Mindanao mainland that make it such a remote destination and I want to be able to visit.

Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan

This is probably my favorite airpost just because I spent the most time here lol. Four layovers and one overnight as we wait for the train to Taipei to open cause we didn't want to take a taxi.

Binurong View Point, Philippines

Besides the very instagrammable view, the beautiful sunrise, the grassy hill that drops into rock cliffs that meet the sea, on my trip here I met people who don't mind taking a hundred photos and spending more time in a place than just admiring the view and moving onto the next one.

Kuromon Market in Osaka, Japan

I love japanese food! Kuromon Market is full of delicious and freshly prepared food. We tried sushi, kobe beef, yakisoba, mochi and much more. There are so many selections to choose from. Plus it was just a few blocks away from our hostel.

Alona Beach, Philippines

I went to Bohol on a solo travel and stayed at a hostel. One of the hosts invited the guests to go to the bar cause the drinks were half-priced that night. We went drinking and afterwards someone said we should go to the beach which was just a short walk away. Then they went skinny dipping haha. I unfortunately did not join them, I stayed at the beach and looked after their clothes. By the time they were done there was a small crowd of watchers on the beach 😂

Apo Reef Natural Park, Philippines

Sometimes I join organized travel tours cause it's convenient especially for off the beaten path destinations. I already have my usual organizer I go with since I love the destinations they tour and the group is usually composed of a mixbag of fun people. I thought one of the guys we're with is cute. Lol. It's more of a happy crush and there is nothing more to that story. Haha

Boracay PubCrawl, Philippines

I'm a beer person now but back when I'm still a shots and party kinda gal Boracay PubCrawl is probably one unforgettable drinking experience. Drinking shots on the beach and in every bar we stop in. Dancing with strangers, tourists and fellow travelers, it was awesome. Just don't do it the night before you go parasailing in the morning 😂

Kura Sushi in Kyoto, Japan

I love sushi! So I really enjoyed the experience and the food when we went to this conveyer belt sushi place in Kyoto. So many sushi to choose from, all of them delicious, and it's relatively cheaper than sushi here in the Philippines.

Jomalig Island, Philippines

I've been to so many beaches and it's difficult to choose my favorite. But I really love the different beaches in Jomalig Island and the fact that there not much tourists (at the time we went there) since it's kind of remote and involves a 6-hour boat ride to get there.

Kibungan, Philippines

I got into hiking and so I decided to join a mountaineer organization called UP Mountaineers so I'll have people I can hike with. Being in the mountains, especially the remote ones, is such a nice way to disconnect (no cell service on most parts of the trail) and really enjoy your surroundings and the company of others. Kibungan is where our induction climb took place. It was the last hike before we became full members. It was an tiring but certainly amazing 3 day hike.

Cebu City, Philippines

First solo travel. I remember we were just browsing promo flights in the office one day and I impulsively booked a flight to Cebu for myself. I told my officemates so I had to go through with it even if I was a bit anxious (but also very excited) going alone. I explored the island from south to north from 5 days. I went canyoneering, visited waterfalls, went on an island and met fellow travelers.

El Nido, Philippines
- jeanlouise
First domestic flight (without parents). It was a trip with me and my roommates at that time. Two of us have just graduated college and we would go our separate ways soon. El Nido is beautiful. I think it was the first time I went island hopping. We went to white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and we even went up a small hill overlooking Nacpan's twin beach. I'm hooked. I wanted more.

I have dreamed about retiring in Siquijor. It has beautiful beaches, waterfalls and a hill overlooking the coast. It is one boat away from Dumaguete CIty or Tagbilaran City but less touristy than either of those places. I'd establish a small beach-front hostel. I'll be able to travel through the stories of the guests. I'll also be able to enjoy the peace and quiet of a small island.
