Four Bars to “Spin the Wheel” in Reykjavik

Jasmine Caceres

I’m not sure if alcohol actually increases luck or just makes you feel as if it it can. But with a handful of Reykjavik bars that offer “pay to spin” game wheels, I can guarantee it’s probably the latter.

Lebowski Bar, American Bar, The Drunk Rabbit Irish Pub, The Irishman Pub

Honestly, the main draw to this bar is its Lebowski theme and that they offer 2 dozen different versions of a White Russian. I highly recommend the Noland Russian and the Special Lady Friend. This bar is a core memory of my trip to Iceland when on our first night, one of my friends spun and won 10 whole pints of beer.

You’ll know you came across the American Bar due to the statue of Uncle Sam out front. For sport fans, this is a great spot to catch a game and dig into some BBQ. But if your game bets go south, why not see if you can change that luck by spinning the Wheel of Fortune (aka the Wheel of Beer).

The Drunk Rabbit is a lovely spot for whiskey, fish and chips, and the opportunity for some Irish luck. If the luck is on your side, you could receive it in the form of a Viking Lager, some shots, or even 6 Heineken.

This pub makes it feel as if you’ve gone from Iceland to Ireland in a split second, complete with wooden decor and solid Irish coffees. Once you’ve gained enough alcohol-induced courage, take a shot at the wheel where you could win 3 or 6 beers, 2 shots, a second chance, or a sad walk home.
