10 Places across the USA that are near and dear to my heart

By Sarah Lempa @travelempa

I haven't been back to the US in over a year, and while I've been loving my time away, I get a pang of nostalgia here and there. I'm hoping to come back for a visit when the weather is nice — and I know I have to go to at least a few of these all time favorite places.

Places across the USA that are near and dear to my heart Places

  • Middlebury
    • travelempa

Beautiful little VT town! I went to kindergarten here. Good times.

  • Naples Pier
    • travelempa

It's pretty cliché to have grandparents who live in Florida, and I'm a part of that cliché. My grandma lives here and I have a lot of fond memories of being a kid at the beach here.

  • Los Angeles International Airport
    • travelempa

I've come and gone from LAX so many times that it feels like one of my many homes. So many "returning to the US after forever" feels here!

  • Stone Arch Bridge
    • travelempa

One of the best places in MPLS! I've walked and biked across this beautiful bridge so many times and I always feel *amazing* when I do.

  • Gloucester
    • travelempa

I have some family in Gloucester, and it's one of my fav places on the east coast. So many good memories of going to the beach and eating clam chowder!

  • O'Hare International Airport
    • travelempa

Wow, the amount of memories I have at this airport is unreal — so much jittery excitement and nostalgia here, from when I was a kid to nowadays when I return to visit family. There's nothing like O'hare during Christmastime.

  • Minneapolis−Saint Paul International Airport
    • travelempa

This place was basically my 2nd home when I was really starting to travel. I was on a first name basis with some of the security guards and gate agents.

  • Albuquerque
    • travelempa

I lived here for 2ish (?) years when I was a kid. I have really good memories of the amazing desert climate and the beautiful mountains off in the distance.

  • Lyons Township High School
    • travelempa

My high school! I used to rollerblade through the hallways and I was voted class clown for my senior superlative. Good times.

  • University of Minnesota
    • travelempa

My alma mater! I absolutely loved my time at UMN. It feels like an entirely different lifetime compared to now, but I get so happy just thinking about walking around campus again.
