Great Date Night Spots in NYC

Danielle Call

These are some of our favorite places to go for a cozy date night out in NYC. The city can definitely get loud and feel overwhelming sometimes, but these places allow you to get out and have a relaxing date night without being too crowded.

The Blue Dog Cookhouse and Bar, Hourglass Tavern, Posto, Pardon My French, Ardesia Wine Bar, Noodies Thai Kitchen, Ella Social, Tarallucci e Vino, Alice's Tea Cup, The Grange

Blue Dog is a fantastic little restaurant on 50th Street, located in New World Plaza. It's super easy to get to from Times Square but tucked away enough that not a lot of tourists visit. They have amazing breakfast and dinner menus and their coffee and cocktails are always good! For breakfast I love the chicken and waffles, and for dinner their burgers are great, but you won't go wrong with anything else.

  • Hourglass Tavern in New York, United States

Hourglass Tavern is popular with the theatre crowd since they usually have a pre-show special. However you can grab a seat upstairs in the smaller dining room for a more intimate date night in NYC without being rushed by the theatre goers.

  • Posto in New York, United States

If you're looking for that New York Pizza don't just go to any $1 slice joint! Wander down to Posto for some delicious thin crust pizza and a bottle of wine. A cozy brick building with soft warm lightning, its great for a casual date night on the town!

  • Pardon My French in New York, United States

A cozy eclectic Parisian bistro in the lower east side. This restaurant also has a beautiful outside garden that is perfect for date night dinner.

  • Ardesia Wine Bar in New York, United States

A small wine bar a little off the beaten path, Ardesia is a great place to have a date night after a long week. They have a large beautiful space, but not a ton of seating so it is still intimate and cozy.

  • Noodies Thai Kitchen in New York, United States

Another small hole in the wall restaurant (like so many in NYC) Noodies has amazing Thai dishes! They only have about 10 to 12 tables, so while it may get 'crowded' for the space, you won't be drowning in a sea of people trying to eat your pad Thai. I also recommend their Thai Iced Tea! It is so delicious and refreshing I usually get one with my dinner and one to go!

  • Ella Social in New York, United States

Ella Social is a great small restaurant for date night. Grab a bottle of Spanish wine, and share a bunch of different tapas because I promise, you won't be able to choose just one thing off this menu.

  • Tarallucci e Vino in New York, United States

If you're missing your afternoon cappuccino from Italy, Tarallucci e Vino is a good option to visit. This small Italian style cafe has a few tables and a central bar that you can sit at for a delicious brunch date or dinner and wine.

  • Alice's Tea Cup in New York, United States

Alice's Tea Cup is a little hole in the wall tea room that you walk down a few stairs from the sidewalk to enter. It is a small cozy space with delicious tea, sandwiches, pastries, or coffee if tea isn't your jam. I do recommend making a reservation just in case because it can get busy especially considering how small a space it is.

  • The Grange in New York, United States

Named for Alexander Hamilton's home, The Grange is located just 2 blocks from where Hamilton's house is located in St. Nicholas Park. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. They have amazing farm to table dishes, great house cocktails, and almost always have a small jazz band playing to add to the atmosphere.
