Governors Island

A 172-acre island near Manhattan, transformed from a military base into a public park with recreation, events, and arts spaces.

Tips from the community

Celebrate pride with one of the most extravagant Pride music festivals in the world! With headliners including Kim Petras, Lil Kim, and more this is one long party you won't want to miss. Taking place on June 25th and 26th, head to the battery to hop on a ferry to an island party embracing Pride.

This scenic island is so close, yet feels so far, for the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. The ferry is free on Saturdays and Sundays before noon, and once you get there, you can hike, bike, or splurge on mini golf.

It hasn't opened yet, but I bet QC NY Spa on Governor's Island will be a must-visit for its Italian-style thermal pools. Counting down the days until it opens.
