Creating Recurring Events

Seeker Events Network | All Plans
This article covers how to create recurring events in Seeker Events Network by setting a repeat period, adding exceptions and occurrences, and configuring start times and dates.

Recurring events let you set up a single event record that repeats on a schedule, so you don’t need to duplicate the event each time it runs. All dates stay linked to one record, keeping your calendar clean and your active event count accurate.

How to Create Recurring Events

  1. Log in at Seeker
  2. Click ‘Events’ in the left sidebar
  3. Click ‘Manage’ from the submenu
  4. Click the options menu (⋯) on the event you want to make recurring
  5. Click ‘Edit’ to open the event editor
  6. Click the ‘Period’ dropdown and select a repeat interval (e.g. ‘Weekly’)
  7. Click ‘Add exception’ to mark any dates when this event will not occur
  8. Click ‘Add occurrence’ to add any additional specific dates for this event
  9. Click the ‘Start time’ dropdown and select when the event begins
  10. Click the calendar icon next to ‘Start date’ and select the date the recurrence begins
  11. Click ‘Save’ to apply your changes

Understanding Exceptions and Occurrences

The recurring event editor includes two ways to customize specific dates:

Exceptions are dates when the recurring event will not happen. If your weekly event skips a holiday, add an exception for that date and it will not appear on your calendar.

Occurrences are additional specific dates for the same event. If your weekly Thursday event is adding a special Saturday edition, add it as an occurrence rather than creating a separate event record. All dates remain linked to one record, and the event counts as a single active event on your plan.

Tips for Managing Recurring Events

  • Set the start date to the first actual occurrence of the event, not a future date
  • Use exceptions for one-off skips only. If the schedule changes permanently, update the ‘Period’ setting instead
  • Recurring events count as a single active event regardless of how many dates they cover
  • Use ‘Add occurrence’ for bonus dates rather than duplicating the event. This keeps all dates linked to one record

FAQs

An exception marks a date when a recurring event will not happen. An occurrence adds a specific extra date when the event will happen. Use exceptions to skip dates and occurrences to add them.

No. All dates tied to a recurring event record count as a single active event. This is one of the key benefits of using recurrence rather than duplicating the event for each date.

Yes. Open the event editor, update the ‘Period’ dropdown to the new interval, adjust the start date if needed, and save. Review any existing exceptions or occurrences after changing the period, as they may no longer apply.
