United States Minnesota Waite Park

Quarry Park and Nature Preserve

A 684-acre park featuring granite reflecting pools, swimming areas, scuba diving zones, rock climbing opportunities, and hiking trails.

Tips from the community

Probably one of the most recognizable attractions in Greater St. Cloud next to Munsinger and Clemens Gardens is Quarry Park and Nature Presever. For just $5 or $10 per vehicle depending on the season (or $25 for a yearly pass) the variety of activities you can do are endless! Early spring day? Plan a hike that takes you through the flourishing bog and floating walkway. Hot summer day? Bring your swimming gear and dive off of the quarries into the crystal clear waters for a refreshing take on a “lake day.” Into history? A short walk will take you to the historical center at Quarry Park, which features the Liberty Derrick as well as a lot of other old granite mining equipment to view and learn about. Quarry Park is another one of those “must-sees” in the area, so fork over a little cash for an adventure to remember!

The Greater St. Cloud area is full of many parks with playgrounds, trails, sporting fields and more, but there is something truly unique about Quarry Park. With the Quarry #11 sandy beach, now kids of all ages can experience the fun of swimming in a former granite quarry. This quarry even has some great ledges for small jumps if your kids are feeling daring. Or there’s Quarry #2 for the older kids, with no beach but high ledges for diving and beautiful views. Bring some floaties, good shoes, and a change of clothes for a post-swimming hike on the beautifully groomed trails!

Named a “Top 10 Swimming Hole” in the nation by Travel Channel in 2016, Quarry Park and Nature Preserve is a lasting legacy of the industry that put St. Cloud on the map. This park was formed around 20+ former granite quarries, some of which now serve as fishing spots, rock climbing walls, and even swimming holes. Take a stroll through the miles of park paths, and you’ll find so many photo opportunities you won’t be able to choose just one. From ghosts of industry past to new life and natural attractions, Quarry Park is an Instagrammer’s dream.

Probably Greater St. Cloud’s most well-known park, Quarry Park has so much to offer visitors. During the warmer months, the trails lead to refreshing quarry swimming holes, fishing spots, and even rock climbing walls. But beyond all that, Quarry Park is simply a beautiful, relaxing place to take a walk. There is an entry fee for each vehicle that depends on the season.
