Jalan Raya Goa Gajah

Just a short taxi ride from Ubud, the Goa Gajah shrine unfolds with its moss-caked ceremonial pools and gaping cave temples. It’s a mysterious place that’s thought to date from between the 9^th and 11^th centuries. There’s a fusion of Hindu, Buddhist, and local folkloric iconography scrawled throughout, with pagodas and ancient bathing spots mixing together between the surrounding rice paddies.
