The Peabody Memphis

Iconic luxury hotel renowned for its charm, elegance, and resident ducks that march daily to its fountain.

Tips from the community

Every day at 11 am and 5 pm sharp, the Peabody Hotel lays out a red carpet for a parade of ducks to march across the lobby into the Peabody’s gurgling fountain. The Peabody ducks have become some of Memphis’ most iconic celebrities over the years, rivaling the King of Rock and Roll himself Elvis Presley. The Peabody Hotel is one of Memphis’ most grand hotels, and has been since it opened its doors in 1869. Today, it is included in the National Registry of Historic Places. Even if you are unable to secure one of their lavish suites, visit the lobby to see the ducks or support one of the businesses lining the ground floor.

Every day at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., “pomp and circumstance” takes on new meaning in the grand lobby of the Peabody Hotel. This is when the Peabody Ducks, five North American mallards, arrive and leave the hotel fountain in a grand procession complete with a red carpet, official introduction and visiting paparazzi. The Peabody Duck March is completely free and open to all.

A beautiful, luxury hotel in the heart of downtown Memphis, famous for - wait for it - the parade of ducks that march from the rooftop, down the elevator and into the hotel lobby fountain every day.

Peabody Hotel is stunning. Definitely worth a walk-through or if you’re really ambitious come see the march of the ducks at 11 AM or 5 PM.
