United States Massachusetts Boston

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

A unique art institution featuring European, Asian, and American works, housed in a 15th-century Venetian-style palace with a lush courtyard.

Tips from the community

This museum is based the personal collection of wealthy heiress Isabella Stewart Gardner, who traveled the world and collected many artifacts from her travels. In her will she requested that nothing be moved from her collection after her death, so the entire collection is as she willed it. This was spectacularly interesting after one of the biggest art heists of its time in the 90s. There are still paintings on the walls that have only the frame there. Gorgeous space and 100% worth a visit!
