Three NYC Global Food Markets that Aren’t Eataly

Jasmine Caceres

Don’t get me wrong, I love Eataly’s gelato and SERRA by Birreria has the best aesthetic but these three marketplaces are just as worth-visiting for travelers and foodies alike.

Japan Village’s Brooklyn-based food hall is beautifully designed and made up of nine restaurants and a bar offering meals from sushi to ramen to udon and curry. The marketplace also offers specialty shops for items like tofu, seafood, premium meats, and of course Sake.

The markets of Le District are divided into three districts: the Café District, which offers an array of pastries, coffees, crepes, and chocolates; the Market District, where you can go order to-go French bites or shop some France-influenced retailers; and the Market District, for fresh produce. Le District is also home to four restaurants - a classic French brasserie, Liberty Bistro; Le Bar, which offers crafted cocktails and delicious dishes; Bar a Vin, which boats an extensive wine list and charcuterie; and finally L’appart, an upscale, French restaurant with a Michelin star.

You’ll have the option of three restaurants while visiting Mercado Little Spain - Spanish Diner, the American-style diner with Iberian flair; La Barra, which offers various Spanish tapas; and El Chiringuito, a casual outdoor restaurant inspired by the beaches of Spain. After your meal, head to the shops for Spanish kitchenware, florals, and everything you need to recreate Spanish meals.
