During the month of October,
Shanghai Disneyland summons a spooky transformation with decorations throughout the park, costumed characters on parade floats, Halloween events, trick-or-treat stops, and dreadfully delicious themed menu items.
Guests who prefer to be part of the fun rather than
watching from the sidelines can boogie with Jack Skellington and Sally from
“The Nightmare Before Christmas” at the “This Is Halloween” Dance Party or sing
along with Miguel from “Coco” over at Adventure Isle.
Expert Tip: Though the
fun starts October 5, the Halloween Days of Spook-tacular on October 30 and 31
are the best days to visit for maximum spooky season enjoyment. The park is
throwing in a few extra surprises, including live DJ’s and a Halloween
fireworks show.

The
Shanghai Disneyland is great fun, uniquely Chinese, and is currently the newest Disneyland to be built, even offering the most detailed and elaborate castle thus far. Apart from some unique rides like Ride Tron, a blend of light and storytelling, you can also see the full Broadway show of The Lion King (separate admission) in Mandarin or the acrobatic based Tarzan show. The shopping street and restaurants all have a Chinese spin, including a gorgeous teahouse. If you’re looking to splash out, the Disney hotel is the most opulent and upmarket to date with an art nouveau style. Very different from the Western Disney offerings and more sprawling and extravagant than the Hong Kong and Tokyo Disneyland parks, this is well worth a visit.

The
Bacchus Lounge in the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel lobby serves more than just wine and cocktails (though there are plenty of both to choose from). Guests can partake of high tea pastries and Chinese or traditional Western lunch samplers. The lounge’s design was inspired by the Disney animated classic “Fantasia,” and prominently features Bacchus: the Roman god of wine. It’s only a short walk from the park and the perfect place to relax after a long day of thrills.
Expert Tip: The lengthy wine list features vintages with ties to Disney, including Silverado Vineyards, founded by Walt Disney’s eldest daughter Diane.
