United States California Twentynine Palms

Old Schoolhouse Museum

A historic educational museum set in a restored 1927 school building, showcasing the cultural heritage and history of a local desert community.

Tips from the community

The Old Schoolhouse Museum is a great place to dive into the world of early hi-desert life, from prospectors in the Old Dale and New Dale mining districts, to the early homesteaders of Twentynine Palms. The museum hosts great lecture series and special events, including the annual Weed Show - a true desert classic.

While we didn't shoot any episodic content here for Southwest Stories, we need to list this as Southwest Stories' host and creator, Steve Brown, has lectured here on aspects of the history of the Southwest. A great place to visit, with a good gift shop, and don't miss the Weed Show in November!
