United States New Mexico Pecos

Pecos National Historical Park

Tips from the community

I have so many good memories of exploring the ruins of pueblos around NM as a kid. Pecos is just east of Santa Fe, so it's an easy detour, but definitely feels waaaay farther away from civilization based on how the site looks.

I'm headed to New Mexico in December and am planning a totally solo, COVID-safe getaway with my pup Fiona. We snagged a casita between Santa Fe & Taos and plan to hit all the best hikes within reach. Food stops are for take-out only, national parks will be visited on off-days, and museums will have to be saved for the next trip (RIP Meow Wolf).

I lived in New Mexico for 2 years when I was a kid. It’s a weird place, and I say that with a completely endearing tone. The nature is unreal for starters, and then you get authentic Mexican food and tons of art galleries and well, to this day I’m sold. Cheers to the American Southwest!!
