Preservation Hall

An iconic jazz venue in the French Quarter of New Orleans, known for intimate acoustic concerts and nurturing traditional jazz since the 1960s.

Tips from the community

I would highly recommend buying tickets online; otherwise, you’ll have to wait in line and those tickets are on a first-come-first-serve basis, so there’s no guarantee that you’ll get in. Preservation Hall itself is a tiny little jazz club on Bourbon Street that supports local artists and musicians. About 100 people can fit into the room and it’s a cozy spot. Note that you can’t bring in food or drinks so fill up before you arrive then sit back, relax, and enjoy the musical stylings of the best New Orleanian musicians.

The hall's faded exterior, vintage signage, and the intimate, often candlelit performances offer a wealth of authentic, photogenic moments that encapsulate the authentic spirit of the city. Capturing the soulful atmosphere and the storied patina within this venerable institution offers a frame-worthy snapshot of New Orleans' vibrant cultural tapestry for both jazz enthusiasts and visual storytellers alike.

Preservation Hall is a historic jazz venue located in one of the oldest buildings in the city. The jazz band’s performances are quaint and intimate; artists perform on a carpet in the front of the room while patrons gather together on small wooden pews to watch. The small room allows for harmonious acoustics that elevate the already masterful performances.

This is a small live music place. Watched a great jazz show that was definitely on my bucket list. Keep in mind - tickets sell out pretty fast!
