Vatnajökull National Park

Few countries on the globe can boast such raw and rugged nature as Iceland. One fine example of what’s on offer in the Land of Fire and Ice comes in the form of the Vatnajökull National Park. It starts on the coast, where a glassy lagoon is topped by mighty icebergs. Further inland, you can venture to the cascades of Svartifoss falls, which roll over chiselled lava columns. Beyond that are creaking glaciers and geothermal geysers that spurt from the slopes of the Kverkfjöll Mountains.

Within the grounds of a protected wilderness area titled Vatnajokull, lies one of Iceland's most beautiful waterfalls. The unique landscape of this national park is made up of glacial lagoons, ice caves, geothermal areas, rivers, and the incredibly picturesque Svartifoss waterfall which is considered to be one of the most unique in the country. This towering waterfall is framed by geometric columns of rock formations and sits tall flowing out into a beautiful canyon.
