The effervescent Italian metropolis of Padua has gained recognition by UNESCO for its fourteenth-century fresco cycles, eight religious complexes that stand testament to the magnificence of fresco artworks that blossomed in the Italian renaissance. They include Giotto’s Scrovegni Chapel fresco cycle, as well as Guariento di Arpo, Giusto de’ Menabuoi, Altichiero da Zevio, Jacopo Avanzi and Jacopo da Verona.
