This is the highest elevated train journey in the world, one of the busiest in Asia, and sits 4000 metres above sea level. Known as one of the most exciting train journeys in the world, the ‘sky road’ trip boasts some of the most varied landscapes ever seen from a train window,including turquoise lakes, misty mountains, and vast grasslands. The journey officially starts in Xining, the capital of Qinghai province, although you can connect from Beijing and Shanghai. The route ends in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet.
