20 Sydney Bucket List

By Parker S @nomadic_american

These are my favorite spots in the most well known Australian city.

Sydney Bucket List Places

  • Coogee Bay Hotel
    • nomadic_american

Pizza, chips (fries) and a nice cold drink after you walk the Bondi to Coogee Walk.

  • Harrys Bondi
  • North Bondi Fish
    • nomadic_american

Fresh seafood and a sunset in the summertime with Froze, must check this place out.

  • Icebergs Dining Room and Bar
  • Gelato Messina Bondi
    • nomadic_american

I've been told this place has the best ice cream/gelato in Sydney, by locals.

  • The Loft
    • nomadic_american

Bar on the water with an amazing view of Darling Harbour at sunset.

  • The Butcher's Block
    • nomadic_american

Favorite spot in Sydney to eat. I prefer waffles, but this place has pancakes that I will travel back to Sydney, just to eat one more time.

  • Shortstop Coffee & Donuts
    • nomadic_american

Still dream of this place. May be the best doughnuts I've had in the world, and that's saying something.

  • Preach Cafe
    • nomadic_american

Breakfast...drooling thinking about this place. Try the french toast if you are looking for something sweet, otherwise the avocado toast is incredible.

  • Taronga Zoo Sydney
  • Royal Botanic Gardens
    • nomadic_american

Pretty views of the horticulture in Sydney and can be done quite quickly. So if you are looking for some time outdoors, with a nice stroll in the park, this is your place.

  • Manly Beach
  • Circular Quay
    • nomadic_american

Circular Quay (pronounced "key") has a boat you can take to Manly beach. The view of the harbour, Hornby Lighthouse and Watson's bay are very cool, not to mention the Opera House. Then you can spend an afternoon in Manly, before heading back to the city.

  • Royal Randwick Racecourse
    • nomadic_american

If you are lucky enough to be in Sydney when the horse races are going on, be sure to check out Randwick! Very different experience than the Kentucky Derby in America, not as many pastels!

  • Blue Mountains
    • nomadic_american

A bit of a drive from Sydney, but beautiful rock formations and landscape to spend an afternoon walking around. Make sure to check out "The Three Sisters."

  • Sydney Harbour Bridge
    • nomadic_american

Another icon of Sydney. You can take a bridge walk to see the Opera House and city from a different angle.

  • The Rocks
    • nomadic_american

Check out The Rocks for the bars and restaurants, along with a great view of the water.

  • Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk
    • nomadic_american

Wonderful way to spend an afternoon, walking down the coast, watching the ocean and getting some fresh air. The walk ends up at Coogee Pavilion, which has great food and tasty chips (french fries for the Americans, like myself).

  • Bondi Beach
    • nomadic_american

Pronounced "Bond-eye" not "Bond-ee" beach. Tourist destination, for sure, but iconic of Sydney. Make your way to the beach and spend some time relaxing by the ocean, eating at North Bondi RSL Club (at sunset if it's summer time) or grabbing a drink at hotel Ravesis or Bondi Icebergs Club.

  • Sydney Opera House
    • nomadic_american

A must see if you are in Sydney. If you are lucky enough to see a concert, do it! The sound is absolutely incredible. One of a kind architecture and known across the globe, you can't travel to Australia and miss this. Just be aware, if you aren't planning to see a concert, it can be underwhelming to take a picture then have nothing to see. This is why I'd recommend grabbing a drink at sunset at the bar next to the Opera House. It has a wonderful view of the Harbour Bridge.
