Lake George, NY and Adirondack State Park is a popular destination for upstate New Yorkers and New Englanders alike. Lake George is one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in the US making it extremely popular in the summer. But you can visit Lake George and the Adirondacks any time of year and take advantage of over 2,000 miles of trails throughout the park!

  • Bear Den Mountain Trail Head

    Bear Den is another popular trail in the Lake Placid area. It's a bit shorter at 3 and a half miles total, but it is a great option for any season. If you visit in the winter be sure to have snow shoes or spikes in case of ice and heavy snow. Once you reach the top take a break and watch the skiers and snowboarders over at Whiteface Mountain.

  • Little Whiteface Mountain

    Little Whiteface Mountain is a pretty popular out and back trail that starts at the Whiteface Base Lodge. It's a good distance, only about 4 and a half miles with great views of Lake Placid and the surrounding High Peaks at the top.

  • Jabe Pond Parking and Trail Head

    This is a lightly trafficked out and back trail towards the northern part of Lake George. This hike is not too strenuous and ends at a nice pond where you can sit and have a snack.

  • Pilot Knob Trail Head

    This Lake George hike will make you do a little more work to actually make it to the trail head. The view at the top is worth the work though!

  • Black Mountain Trailhead

    A bit more strenuous 6 mile hike, this trail will lead you to incredible views of Lake George and a fire tower at the summit.

    Starting right on the lake, Buck Mountain can get very busy, so be sure to get there early.

    A little south of Lake George, this hike is part of Moreau State Park, and ends in views of the lake .

  • Tenant Creek Falls Trail Head

    This 5 mile round trip hike is a moderate hike featuring some streams and gorgeous waterfalls. Also a great trail to bring your pups for some exercise and splashing around!

  • Prospect Mountain

    This popular trail is located very close to Lake George Village. The trailhead is in a neighborhood and there is an iron bridge that spans I-87 that you have to cross. The summit has beautiful 360 views of the southern part of the lake.

  • Sleeping Beauty Mountain Trailhead

    For a moderate Lake George hike, Sleeping Beauty trail is a great option. You'll be rewarded with gorgeous views of the lake at the top.
